We’re pleased to present this well-preserved and completely restored 1965 Volkswagen Bus (Type II). The vehicle underwent a total restoration in 2019 and the vast majority of the van is NEW from top to bottom. The van was completely sandblasted inside and out, all of the rust spots were 100% removed and new green metal was installed. It was then professionally painted inside and out – the underside of the van was blacked out, the inside is finished in gloss white, and the outside was finished in a stunning navy blue and white paint scheme.
During reassembly, the van was completely rewired and a new fuse block was installed. The 1600CC engine and the braking system were rebuilt in 2018. All-new glass with stainless steel frames were installed. Front safari windows were also fitted.
All-new gauges were installed, along with custom seating for 7 so the kids and their friends could come along, too! The seats were professionally upholstered with navy blue and white Sunbrella fabric, making them comfortable in all weather conditions, but more importantly making them super easy to clean. The interior front panels were custom-stitched in colors matching the seats.
Sound-deadening Dynamat was installed behind all of the interior panels and also under the custom bamboo floors. As a result, this van doesn’t have the normal echo inside – it is very well insulated, which makes it great to listen to the new custom stereo system with 6 marine-grade 6.5″ speakers and a powered 10″ subwoofer. The Van has an iPod connection and Bluetooth, along with a separate bass control knob.
The interior was custom-designed specifically for maximum functionality by one of the top custom furniture makers in our area. We added custom hidden cubbies underneath the seats, along with cup holders and storage bins in the back armrests. Most of the finishings are assembled with stainless screws throughout the vehicle to prevent rust. We installed interior LED dome lighting which really makes the van easy to see in and use at night. The headlights and all marker lamps are new, along with new LED taillights. There are also new lenses in the reverse lights. Inside, every handle and knob is new, along with the steering wheel, and blinker stalk.
There is nothing on this van that wasn’t thoroughly gone-through and either restored or replaced. This Volkswagen Bus is absolutely ready to go and it has loads of power – it will easily travel at 60-65MPH with no issues at all, and is a really comfortable driver.
You will never meet a stranger with this van – it gets more attention than a Ferrari and is well-loved by all car and non-car enthusiasts!
